Fun with a Purpose
Over 1,300 campers spend six weeks forming good habits of cleanliness, independence, and responsibility. Expectations are met each day while also enjoying a multitude of activities, competition and recreation.
Leadership
Culver uses an independent and supportive military-based framework, preparing campers for leadership and responsible citizenship in civilian society. Campers earn rank and position as they progress and acquire the ability to lead others.
Boarding Environment
Culver’s boarding environment enables campers to form valuable and long-lasting friendships, while also encouraging independence. Culver provides the right amount of challenge and success in order to reach full potential of personal growth.
Family Involvement
Family and guests may visit every weekend except for the first, attend on-campus activities and spend time off campus enjoying the lake, restaurants, hotels, shops, and events in town.
Variety of Activities
Culver offers over 65 electives in nine categories, such as academics, athletics, fine arts, nature, and waterfront. Afternoons and evenings focus on team building, competition, and social activities.
Progressive Achievement
Culver’s system motivates campers to be well-rounded and successful. Gathering enough points in categories such as citizenship, attentiveness, cleanliness, and athletics provide campers with an award and the ability to progress to a more challenging level the following summer. The end result includes graduation and a certificate of completion.
Global Community
With 38 countries and 39 states represented, Culver creates an international community providing campers with a laboratory to learn the benefits and challenges of today’s diversity.
High-Challenge, High-Support
Culver focuses on long-term respect rather than short-term satisfaction. Counselors are able to form meaningful relationships with campers providing solid encouragement, delayed gratification, and positive role modeling.
History and Traditions
Culver’s roots date back to 1894, ensuring programs, award systems, and traditions are rich in detail, meaning, and quality.
Facilities
On the shores of Indiana’s second largest natural lake is Culver’s 1,800-acre campus – the third largest in Indiana. With 38 redbrick buildings and 70 cabins, Culver can provide extensive equipment, such as a 120-boat sailing fleet, 90-horse equestrian center, and an elaborate Indian Lore program and council ring.
Connections to Other Associations
Culver has a long-standing history with the American Camp Association, the Boy Scouts of America, and US Sailing, enabling Culver to certify campers in three sailing certifications recognized globally.
Alumni and Development
Culver’s alumni span across the globe and were instrumental in establishing a new American secondary school fund-raising record of $376 million in Culver’s capital campaign.
Compare to Other Camps
Culver is an independent boarding high school and camp, providing resources and opportunities to campers and their families not available at family-owned or private camps. Such resources include 24-hour security, a wellness program, a beautiful chapel, facilities and beautification department, extensive online tools for parents, and much more.
