Gathering enough points in categories such as citizenship, attentiveness, cleanliness, and athletics provide campers with an award and the ability to progress to a more challenging level the following summer. Counselors are able to form meaningful relationships with campers providing solid encouragement, delayed gratification, and positive role modeling. <br><br>History and Traditions <br>Culver’s roots date back to 1894, ensuring programs, award systems, and traditions are rich in detail, meaning, and quality. <br><br>Facilities <br>On the shores of Indiana’s second largest natural lake is Culver’s 1,800-acre campus – the third largest in Indiana. With 38 redbrick buildings and 70 cabins, Culver can provide extensive equipment, such as a 120-boat sailing fleet, 90-horse equestrian center, and an elaborate Indian Lore program and council ring. <br><br>Connections to Other Associations <br>Culver has a long-standing history with the American Camp Association, the Boy Scouts of America, and US Sailing, enabling Culver to certify campers in three sailing certifications recognized globally. <br><br>Alumni and Development <br>Culver’s alumni span across the globe and were instrumental in establishing a new American secondary school fund-raising record of $376 million in Culver’s capital campaign. <br><br>Compare to Other Camps <br>Culver is an independent boarding high school and camp, providing resources and opportunities to campers and their families not available at family-owned or private camps.
